Research Interests

I am interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of myosin motor proteins. Myosin motors have the ability to generate mechanical force and motion along actin filaments, and thus they function in a variety of important intracellular processes. Current work is focused on understanding the intra- and inter-molecular mechanisms of myosin regulation, in particular as it relates to cargo trafficking during endocytosis and in the formation of filopodia and other actin-based cellular protrusions. The data obtained will provide new mechanistic insight and offer an opportunity to develop therapies directed at impaired myosin or myosin-associated proteins.
