HR Updates

Higher Education Opportunity The University of Florida’s Higher Education Opportunity (HEO) provides children of full-time TEAMS employees with the opportunity of tuition assistance for an undergraduate education at the University of Florida. The Higher Education Opportunity (HEO) program has expanded to provide the HEO scholarship to 150 applicants each year. Each year, UF Human Resources will choose at random from a pool of eligible applicants 150 children of TEAMS employees to participate in this program. For each child selected, the university will pay the in-state matriculation fees, less any Bright Futures scholarship award, for a maximum of 132 credit hours toward an undergraduate degree at the University of Florida or a Florida public college (i.e., SF College) or community college, in the event the child is not admitted to the University of Florida. The application deadline is November 1st, 2024.

Sick Leave Pool The University’s Sick Leave Pool enrollment begins today through Oct 31st. Accrued sick leave is unfortunately sometimes not enough to cover an unexpected or prolonged personal illness. For this reason, UFHR offers a Sick Leave Pool as a way for employees to combine a portion of their individually accrued sick leave for collective use. They are then eligible to use up to 480 hours of University pooled sick time for a personal catastrophic injury or illness to cover their absence from work and they will continue to get paid. Requirements:- Must be TEAMS, USPS, law enforcement or faculty
- Must donate eight (8) hours of sick leave
- Must have 64 hours of accrued personal sick leave

Vacation Leave Cash-out This is a time where TEAMS employees may cash out up to 16 hours of vacation leave between Monday, October 28th and Thursday, November 7th. A minimum balance of 40 hours of vacation leave is required after cashing out the leave and no late entries or exceptions will be permitted. Employees must enter time in their timesheets before midnight on 11/7/2024. All cash-out payment will be included on the November 15th paycheck.
