We are excited to welcome back to our Department, Sharonda Harris, PhD, as the Assistant Director for Research Administration.
Dr. Harris received her PhD from the University of Mississippi in Pharmacology & Toxicology. She then was a postdoctoral associate from 2015-2021, first in the lab of Dr. Gonzalo Torres and next in the lab of Dr. Nikhil Urs – publishing papers in both labs on neuropharmacology. For the last year, Dr. Harris has been a Senior Writer in the COM Office of Research where I have had the pleasure to work with her as she has led many important and highly complicated initiatives, including administratively leading the COM R01 Bootcamp.
As our Assistant Director for Research Administration, Dr. Harris will work with our team to help our Department continue to flourish. Her main role will be in developing applications to seek major funding to support training and strategic research initiatives in the Department, with her first major objective to bring together faculty to compete for an NIH T32 training grant in our Department and to lead that submission. In addition to helping grow our training and research funding portfolio, Dr. Harris will play an oversight role to ensure the highest caliber of pre-award submissions and management of awards post-submission.
