Victoria Leroy was named one of only nine 2021 ASPET Washington Fellow. She is working on her PhD in Biomedical Sciences in the Pharmacology department. Leroy’s research under Dr. Ashish Sharma focuses on “the mechanisms of inflammation resolution in post-lung transplant injury to identify potential therapeutic targets.” Under the Washington Fellows program, Leroy hopes to understand which aspects of research have the most impact on policy and decision-making, as well as help her understand the pivotal role of scientific evidence in policy making procedures.
The Washington Fellows program provides early career scientists with an interest in scientific policy an opportunity to learn about public policy and current issues in the field. The fellows will complete a one-day virtual conference on advocacy and attend virtual meetings with congressional representatives and staff to advocate for increased funding in biomedical research.
Congratulations Victoria!
