SURF Program applications due April 15

The University of Florida Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is delighted to announce the availability of basic research internships for the summer of 2016 through the new SURF Program.

The SURF Program, an acronym for Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program, is an immersive, 10-week program with mentored independent research, course work, and enrichment activities. The program is designed to give students a research experience that focuses on Pharmacology & Therapeutics and includes both drug discovery and biological therapies.

Accepted students will gain experience in basic biomedical research, be introduced to the disciplines of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, and have the opportunity to present data in a typical graduate student seminar setting.  Each summer intern will receive a $2,800 stipend. Assistance with housing and travel may be available if sufficient need is demonstrated.

In order to be considered for the program, students must submit a complete application through the department’s online portal before April 15, 2016. Program requirements and detailed application instructions can be found on the department’s 2016 SURF Program page.
