Postdoctoral position – Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Olga Guryanova, MD PhD, at the University of Florida Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to study the cross-talk between epigenetics and chromatin organization in normal and malignant hematopoiesis.

The lab focuses on leukemia-associated mutations in epigenetic modifier genes, molecular mechanisms affected by these alterations, and their role in stem cell maintenance, differentiation, and stress response (for more information please see Guryanova et al, Leukemia 2016, 30(5):1133-42; Guryanova et al, Nature Medicine 2016, 22(12):1488-95).  We seek to understand how these processes contribute to the emergence of clonal hematopoiesis, clonal evolution, and leukemia development, with the goal to translate these findings into novel therapeutic strategies.  We use genetic mouse modeling, multi-color cell fate tracing, biochemical, genomic, single-cell and single molecule approaches to study these questions.

Graduates with a recent PhD, MD/PhD, or DVM degree with a background in cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, molecular genetics, immunology, developmental biology or related fields are encouraged to apply.  Good interpersonal and communication skills, high motivation and ability to conduct independent research are required.  Experience with genetic mouse models, flow cytometry, standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, as well as familiarity with epigenetics, NGS technologies and hematology/hematopoiesis are a plus.

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for designing, planning and conducting experimental work, analyzing data and keeping records, in coordination with graduate students and laboratory staff.  He/she will be expected to prepare manuscripts for publication, contribute to grant proposals, and present results at scientific meetings.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be based on NIH-recommended levels for postdoctoral compensation.

The University of Florida offers a vibrant interdisciplinary scientific environment and an affordable lifestyle with various outdoor and family-friendly activities year-round.

Interested individuals should send a CV with a list of publications, a statement of past accomplishments, research interests and career goals, and contact information for three references to Dr. Olga Guryanova (
